It is 20 years since I opened Britannia House. Friday, the 10th November 2000 at 3.15pm the house became mine and what a fine and happy house it is.
It rained a lot that autumn (as it occasionally does at this time of year) and my very first guest was a wonderful elderly lady from Wales.
I had postcards printed of Britannia House and walked around town going into shops, pubs and restaurants saying things like "Hello, I'm Tobi...". Great fun. Joined the local Chamber of Commerce and had lots of cheese and wine parties in the B&B kitchen.
Celebrations this year will be different. Picking up the kids from school (true!) and cooking for the family in lockdown No.2. Most likely a bottle of champagne will be popped.
I will think of all my wonderful guests of whom many have become friends over the years and I will think of my family in Germany which I have not seen since summer 2019. Strange times.
Looking forward to 2021, I have decided to remain closed until the New Year. Personally I think December will be not much different from November and one has to accept it.
All the best to all of you. Stay well and keep safe.
Love from your committed host at Britannia House,
